After we have boarded the coach we will begin our journey north, continuing through Scotland to Fort William. Sit back, relax and take in Scotland’s beautiful scenery. We will break up our journey with a few stops, one being at the Loch Lomond Visitors Centre.
Our first night of the holiday will be spent in the Ben Nevis Hotel & Leisure Club, at the foot of the famous mountain. You will have access to the leisure facilities on site, including indoor heated pool, and Mountain View Jacuzzi. You will have free time to relax before our evening meal.
After a leisurely breakfast we will depart the hotel to make our way to the Islands passing Eileen Donan Castle on the way, one of Scotland’s most recognisable castles. After crossing the Skye Bridge, we will make our way up the famous island to Portree where you will have some free time, before we take the afternoon ferry from Uig to Tarbet on Harris, in the Outer Hebrides. The crossing will take less than 2 hours, just enough time to grab refreshments, and take in the Summer’s view of the Hebrides. Once we have docked, we will make our way through the Isle of Lewis to Stornaway to our hotel, the Caladh Inn, for the next two nights. Based in Stornaway, you are within walking distance to the town centre and coastline. Our dinner in the hotel restaurant this evening is a hot three-course buffet.
After our breakfast it is time for us to explore the island. The Isle is steeped in history and culture dating back thousands of years, first we will visit the Clanais Visitor Centre and the extraordinary Clanais Standing Stones erected 5,000 years ago, predating the famous Stonehenge monument. We will spend time taking in the views, or visiting the café before we make our way to Gearrannan Black House Village, where we step back in time to experience a way of life in a typical crofting township of the 19th Century. With views over the Atlantic Ocean, you will be able to see how traditionally Harris Tweed is made, and what living in the small crofting houses was like. We will spend the afternoon here, before weaving our way back through the Island to our hotel for our last evening in Stornaway.
Today your breakfast can be a little more leisurely, and you will also have time to explore Stornaway before we depart on our ferry crossing to Ullapool. This crossing is a little under 3 hours, so again, take in the views of the Scottish coastline. Once docked we will embark upon our next part of our journey south to Pitlochry, where we will check into our hotel, the Fishers Hotel, located in the town centre. Our dinner will be served in the hotel restaurant this evening.
Today you have all day at your leisure to explore Pitlochry, whether you decide to wander the high street with many independent retailers, visit the Atholl Palace Museum, or even the Blair Atholl Distilerry, make sure you take in the mountain views. Our final evening meal will be served in the hotel restaurant, with live musical entertainment planned in the bar.
As all good things must come to an end so we will begin our journey south after our breakfast. We will break up the journey with a stop for lunch, and time to stretch our legs.
